 What We Do

Shine utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to develop individualized programs or treatment plans which target cognitive, speech/language, academic/ school readiness, behavior management, play, self-care, and social skills. Each individualized program is based upon the child’s unique strengths and deficits. The goal of ABA is to decrease maladaptive behaviors and replace them with functional skills that will allow for autonomy and positive social reinforcement.

Applied Behavior Analysis is the study of the functional relationship between one’s behaviors and their environment. Data is collected on the stimuli that elicits, increases, decreases, or maintains the child’s behavior. The data is then analyzed and an individualized ABA program is created and implemented at school, home, and within the community. Data is continually collected and analyzed by our highly-trained and experienced staff to insure treatment effectiveness. The goal of a behavior analyst is to utilize behavioral contingencies to help the child learn more functional skills that can replace undesirable behaviors and improve the child’s quality of life. Shine seeks to produce significant results enabling the child to adapt to their environment, thus preparing them for a brighter future!
